Djibouti is an important base for western navies, the French Foreign Legion, and the US Marines. It sits at the entrance to the Red Sea, astride the passage from the Indian Ocean to the Suez Canal.

PAE Government Services, Inc. in Los Angeles, CA received a $26.4 million cost-plus-award-fee contract for base operations services at Camp Lemonier, Djibouti, Horn of Africa; the agreement covers base tenants, and outlying facilities. This contract contains 4 option years, which if exercised, would bring the total to a not to exceed amount of $140.7 million. Work will be performed in Djibouti, with an expected completion date of August 2008 (August 2012 with options).

Contract funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via the NAVFAC e-solicitation website, with 6 proposals received.by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Europe and Southwest Asia (N33191-07-D-0207).
